Ever since she was a child, Founder Jacque Murphy has been a fan of Johnny Cash. As she says, “Who isn’t?” Johnny’s music appeals to generations of fans and continues to gain in popularity. “I’m just a fan”, says Jacque. She teamed up with Co-Founder Ross Emery, local musician and local business owner to create an event to celebrate Johnny Cash and pay tribute to the Man in Black. The dream was to have an old fashioned, hip and modern music festival.
Now, nearly six years after his death, California Central Coast Cash fans have united in honor of the Man in Black, and will launch the first annual Tribute to Johnny Cash Music Festival this Saturday in Ventura's Seaside Park (10 W. Harbor Blvd.) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. For festival info and tickets, visit johnnycashmusicfestival.com.
On hand to deliver classic Cash tunes will be locally based outfits like Mighty Cash Cats and Big River, Los Angeles staples Petty Cash and With a Bible and a Gun, and my nearby hometown of Folsom’s very own Cash Prophets. It’ll be seven straight hours of Johnny Cash covers.
