I have been so intrigued to try Pat McGrath products recently - the packaging and the branding is just so fun and a little bit out there!
Pat McGrath is one of the most influential makeup artists in the world! She has been in the business for over 20 years working in the beauty and fashion industry, creating visions for runways, advertisements and and editorial. She created Pat McGrath Labs as her Golden Revolution and her guiding principles behind the brand are "Obsession. Inspiration. Addiction." which have been her thoughts about beauty since she was young!
Pat McGrath is certainly a higher end brand, and my favorite way to try out high end brand is when they release mini products! This gives me (or you) the chance to see if you like the formula or products before shelling out $50 for a lipstick or $170 for an eyeshadow palette!
Pat McGrath Labs Lust: Mini MatteTrance Lipstick Trio in "Skin Show" ~ $32.00 CAN. A trio of lust-worthy mini lipsticks in bestselling shades and a finish so sinful your lips will speak volumes without ever whispering a word.
This limited edition set contains 3 mini lipsticks from the MatteTrance lipstick permanent line - I love this idea of having the minis of permanent products, so that if you love one shade, you can pick it up again! These mini size lipsticks are worth about $15.00 CAN each, which makes this set a really great deal! The full size lipsticks are $52.00 each, so you can try 3 shades for less than the price of 1 full sized! This set was in and out of stock; but, is available now and would be a great stocking stuffer!
The lipsticks are described as richly pigmented, with opulent matte opacity that features optical diffusers to blur imperfections. They are really smooth and soft to wear and are long lasting and comfortable on the lips! It's actually a formula that when you apply it to the lips, it doesn't feel like you are wearing anything!
The packaging is so over-the-top; but, fun! You get a little golden package and when you open it up, it is full of gold sequins! The lipstick packaging itself is a black case and I love the golden lips on the front of each lipstick tube!
The Skin Show mini set comes with 3 nude shades:
Omi ~ mid-tone rose
1995 ~ warm light nude
Flesh 3 ~ brown rose
There is also another limited edition trio, Colour Blitz, that comes with reds and pinks in it!
Here is me in Omi - this is such a gorgeous rosy nude for me. Adds the perfect amount of colour to my lips!
And here is 1995 on me - I always worry how these really nude shades will look on me; but, this was is a warm nude, so it doesn't wash me out and I think it looks really nice on!
And here is Flesh 3 - this is a little more red than I was expecting with the shade description. There is still lots of deep brown tones in it, and while it may be my least favorite of the 3 shades in the set, it's still a pretty shade!
(Also, if you are interested in what's on my eyes - it's the Natasha Denona Mini Star eyeshadow palette and it's lovely! You can see my thoughts here!)
I have to say, I was so impressed with the formula of these lipsticks! They have a super smooth, almost velvety texture when applied to the lips and are fully opaque with one application. They really do appear to smooth out the lips texture, are really long wearing, and so comfortable! My favorite is easily Omi; but, 1995 really surprised me too!
I think this set is a great way to try out the formula for Pat McGrath - I know there is always discussions on whether or not the mini products have the same formula as the full sized products. But, I will say the formula of these minis is fantastic, and if it's not the same as the full size, then those would be amazing!
